Questions, ask us anything
The questions everyone asks.
Spending real money on something you can’t yet see throws up plenty of questions — so here are honest answers to the ones we hear most. If yours isn’t here, just ask; a real person will reply.
Getting started
- I’m not very technical — is that a problem? +
- Not in the slightest. The technical side is our job, not yours. We handle every bit of it and explain anything you want explained in plain English. You will never be made to feel daft for not knowing a term — that’s rather the point of hiring us.
- I haven’t got much time. How much do you need from me? +
- Very little. One good conversation at the start, a look at the design when it’s ready, and your sign-off. We do the heavy lifting; you just need to be reachable for the odd quick question.
- Do I have to write all the words myself? +
- No. Writing the words is included — we write them in your voice, then you tweak anything that doesn’t sound like you. Most people are quietly relieved by this.
- What if I don’t really know what I want? +
- Perfectly normal, and not a problem. That’s exactly what the first conversation is for. We’ll work out what your business actually needs together — you don’t need to arrive with a plan.
The work & timeline
- How long does it take? +
- About four weeks from the first chat to going live: a week to understand your business, a week to agree the design, two to build, then launch day.
- What happens to my existing website? +
- We replace it cleanly. Your domain and email keep working, nothing disappears from Google, and we make sure the switch-over is seamless — visitors won’t see a thing except a far better website.
- Will it work properly on phones? +
- Yes. Most of your customers are on a phone, so we design for that first and test on real devices — not just a big screen in an office.
- Do you handle the photography? +
- We direct it as part of the work, because good photographs make all the difference and phone snaps rarely do your business justice. Your roast, your shop, your finished jobs — shown at their best.
- Can I update it myself afterwards? +
- Yes, for the everyday things — your menu, opening hours, a new photo. We hand you a simple one-page guide a busy person can actually use. For bigger changes, just drop us a line.
Money & commitment
- How much does it cost? +
- Fixed prices, written plainly on the board: a one-page site from £2,400, a full website from £4,800, and advanced builds from £9,500, all plus VAT. No “POA”, no surprise retainers.
- Do I have to pay it all up front? +
- No. You pay in two simple stages: a deposit to begin the build — once you’ve seen and approved the design — and the balance when your website goes live.
- What if I don’t like it? +
- Before any building begins, you’ll see a full design concept — exactly how your site will look — and we refine it until it’s right. You only go ahead once you’re happy with it. If the design genuinely isn’t for you, you’re under no obligation to proceed.
- Are there ongoing costs? +
- Only if you’d like us to look after the site: hosting and care from £39 a month, cancellable whenever you like. No long contracts, and never a cost you didn’t agree to.
- Will you disappear after it’s launched? +
- No. You get a real person on the end of the phone, for as long as you need one. In practice, our clients are still with us years later.
Owning it & getting found
- Do I actually own my website? +
- Yes — outright, domain and all. No rental, no lock-in, no holding it hostage. It’s an asset you own, not a subscription you’re trapped in.
- What if I want to leave one day? +
- You take everything with you — the lot. You’re never tied to us. In fifteen years, as it happens, nobody ever has.
- Will it help me get found on Google? +
- Yes — getting found is part of the job, not an upsell. We set your site up so the people searching for your trade in your town actually find you.
Working with us
- Do you only work with businesses in England? +
- We specialise in independent English high-street businesses — pubs, shops, professional practices and trades — and that focus is exactly why our work fits them so well.
- Can we meet in person? +
- Gladly. We come to you — or ring, if you’d rather. One good chat over a pot of tea tells us more than any form ever could.
